HFM Summerschool 2019

TROMBONE ACADEMY

CHORAL ACADEMY

CONDUCTING ACADEMY

From the 2nd to the 7th of September, the Hochschule für Musik Saar organizes the “HfM Saar Summer School” for the fourth time. In addition to a choir and a conducting academy under the direction of Georg Grün, a trombone academy will be offered for the first time under the direction of Michael Zühl.

Trombones and choral singers have one thing in common: they usually do not appear individually. The trombone academy takes this circumstance into account and places chamber music at the center of the academy week. In addition to the development of various key works of trombone ensemble literature, several works for choir and trombone are rehearsed in collaboration with the conducting and choral academy led by Georg Grün. The instructors are members of the trombone ensemble “Trombone Unit Hannover” under the direction of Michael Zühl.

The choir academy offers in each voice group the development and performance of demanding choir music under professional conditions in an academy choir together with professional singers from radio choirs or the professional choir scene such as SWR Vocal Ensemble and Kammerchor Stuttgart. These will coach the scholars throughout the duration of the choral academy through targeted singing lessons tailored to their individual needs as well as the requirements of professional vocal ensemble work and literature.

The conducting academy deals primarily with questions of interpretation, choral sound, intonation as well as their rehearsal and conducting technical implementation in a professional context. Particular attention is paid to the expression of the conductor through stroke technique and the individual “conducting language” of the participants. This is done by individual conducting lessons with Prof. Grün, the passive participation in the choir rehearsals as well as the own conducting of the academy choir, whose video-recorded rehearsals are evaluated in the afternoon and the relevant choral works are rehearsed and prepared for conducting.

The best conductor of the Summer School 2019 will receive a ticket worth 285 Euro for the “chor.com” in Hanover from 12 to 15 September 2019.

For the active and the passive participants only administrative costs in the amount of 75 euros and 100 euros (conducting academy) are incurred. All other costs are covered by the Peter und Luise Hager Foundation and the ME Saar Foundation.
